White marble-look epoxy kitchen countertop in Anderson, IN

A new surface without demolition

Replacing countertops usually means tearing out old tops, disconnecting plumbing, waiting for templates and fabrication and paying for stone. Epoxy countertops take a different path. We pour resin directly over existing laminate, tile, wood or solid surface tops, creating a seamless, glossy surface in the color and pattern you choose. Most projects finish in a few days with no tear-out.

Looks you can choose

White with gray veins gives a marble look. Black with gold or copper creates a dramatic bar. Grays and whites with subtle movement suit modern kitchens. Blues and greens can recall water or stone. We can also coat over a wood slab for a clear, glossy finish that shows the grain. Sample boards help you decide before we pour.

The process

Preparation. We clean and sand the existing top, fill seams and gaps and prime. Tile grout lines are filled so the surface is flat.

Protection. Cabinets, floors, walls and appliances are covered. Sinks and cooktops are masked or removed as needed.

Base and design coats. We apply a base coat, then the color and pattern coats, working pigments to create the look you approved.

Flood coat. A clear, self-leveling coat gives depth and gloss. Drips along edges are removed after curing.

Black and copper epoxy bar top in a basement in Anderson, IN

Kitchens

Kitchen countertops face heat, knives, spills and daily cleaning. Cured epoxy is hard and stain resistant. Use cutting boards and trivets, as with most surfaces. With care, an epoxy countertop looks good for years.

Home bars and basements

Basement bars and game rooms are perfect for bold metallic or dark designs. These pair well with a metallic floor for a coordinated look.

Bathrooms and laundry rooms

Vanity tops and laundry counters benefit from a seamless, water-resistant surface. Resin seals out water that can swell laminate and damage particleboard below.

Workbenches

Garage and shop workbenches can be coated for a tough, chemical-resistant surface that cleans easily. Pair one with a coated garage floor for a complete workspace.

Heat and UV

Epoxy can soften under very hot pots, so trivets are important. Counters in direct sunlight may yellow slightly over time; UV-resistant formulations reduce this. We discuss placement and use before choosing products.

Timeline

Most kitchens take two to three days, including prep, pours and a short curing period. Light use is possible after about 24 to 48 hours; full cure takes about a week.

Cost

Epoxy countertops typically cost less than quartz or granite replacement, depending on size, design and prep needs.

Questions

Is it food safe? Fully cured resin is commonly used on food prep surfaces.

Can it be repaired? Yes, by sanding and recoating.

Will it look like real stone? It can look very similar, with a deeper, glossier finish.

Kitchens in older homes

Plenty of kitchens in houses from the 1950s and 1960s still have their original laminate counters or square ceramic tile with dark grout lines. The cabinets are often solid wood and worth keeping, but the tops look dated and the tile grout is hard to keep clean. A resin pour over the existing base modernizes the room in a few days. We check that the substrate is solid, screw down any loose sections and fill tile joints flush before the design coats go on.

Choosing edges and backsplashes

Square edges give a crisp, contemporary look. Rounded edges are gentler on hips and elbows in a busy kitchen. A natural drip edge suits rustic bars and live-edge wood. We can coat a short backsplash to match the counter, which removes another seam where water collects behind the faucet.

Living with your new counters

Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh solvents. Keep hot pans on trivets and use boards for cutting. Small scratches can be buffed, and a tired surface can be lightly sanded and recoated rather than replaced.
